USEFUL TO KNOW DO MINDFULNESS-BASED INTERVENTIONS WORK?
Over several decades , numerous studies have shown that MBSR Mindfulness Based Stress reduction does enable change in people with a broad range of stress related breath problems. Data from trials indicate that when MBCT Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy is compared with the treatment that people usually get, such as medication and support from their GP or mental health team , it is associated with a 44 per cent reduction in how likely they are to get depressed again- alyhough this is only true for people who have been depressed at least three times .
When compared with antidepression , MBCT is as good. Even though the course involves learning skilss that have not historically been part of mainstream Western Society , following the trials people reported finding mindfulness-based approaches extremely accessible and acceptable .
